Don't Have 60 minutes? How About 20 minutes?
Not long ago, I had lasik surgery. When the laser beam was directed into my eyes, it was scary to say the least. After all, it it was my eyes! But the entire procedure took only 20 minutes and it was over. For the next six hours, I felt some discomfort, but I was not in pain.
When I awoke the next morning, I opened my eyes and as always, looked out my bedroom window. That day, the leaves on the trees appeared so pronounced- so beautiful. And the birds at the bird feeder looked so near and so sweet! The sight brought a smile to my face.
Then, my eyes shifted to the clock on my dresser. For the very first time, I could see the minute hand! I was amazed, delighted and ecstatic. After having spent the majority of my life being nearsighted, suddenly being able to see things so clearly was a real miracle. It still is!
My eyesight wasn't the only part of me that saw clearly that day. I realized that the entire lasik procedure took just twenty minutes, and in that twenty minutes, my life was changed in such a positive way.
Then, my thoughts shifted to all the projects, meetings, paperwork, conference calls, and details I had waiting for me at my office. It was then I realized that if I could make a conscious decision to spend twenty minutes of laser focused energy each day engaging in productive activities, this too, could bring about positive results. I was right. I recognized that I can complain till the cows come home about always having too much to do, too little time every day, but that I had to be solutions focused. This was a solution!
Think about it. Every day, you too face the: too much to do, too little time dilemma, .
